Canadian singer Dominique Fils-Aimé began her career with three albums that celebrated three different forms of Black American music – blues, jazz, and soul. Having staked out her musical territory, she has since released another pair of albums that freely move about, mixing R&B and contemporary beat production into her distinctive approach to vocal jazz. The most recent of those records is called My World Is The Sun, and it’s already been longlisted for Canada’s Polaris Music Prize. Dominique Fils-Aimé plays on Sept. 17 at Le Poisson Rouge.
