Esperanza Spalding at Perelman Arts Center
Oct. 7. 7PM. $59-$118

The idea of music as something healing, even medicinal, is an ancient one, but it has caught on with a number of contemporary musicians, perhaps most notably the Grammy-winning bassist, singer, and songwriter Esperanza Spalding. Drawing on jazz, classical, pop, and non-Western musical ideas, Spalding has created a series of pieces for what she called the Songwrights Apothecary Lab. On Oct. 7, she’ll talk about her inspirations and play a set of songs that deal with wellness, both individual and communal at the Perelman Arts Center.
