The Brooklyn-based cellist and composer MIZU creates music that deals with transformation. She uses live electronic processing and layering of her cello to create sonic landscapes that suggest ongoing voyages, with titles like “The Way To Yonder” and “Realms of Possibility.” She’s also been involved in some unusual collaborations, like a site-specific soundwalk on Governor’s Island last year. And some of her works look back, however obliquely, at her classical training, while incorporating elements of film noir, psychological thriller, and cabaret.
