For over half a century, Tabou Combo have been a leading band in Haiti and in the Haitian diaspora. They combine the dance style known as compas with the hard-partying sounds of rara music and American funk and soul and at this point the band has an enormous discography, full of songs sung in English, Spanish, French, and of course Haitian Kreyol. Over the decades, the lineup has changed, but incredibly, the core members of the band are still going. Tabou Combo plays a free show on June 24 at Lincoln Center’s Dance Floor.
