The jazz community has been celebrating two major centennials this year: trumpeter Miles Davis and sax player John Coltrane. One notable celebration will be on July 23, when Ravi Coltrane – a sax player like his dad – will join Terence Blanchard, the trumpeter who is also an opera and Oscar-nominated film score composer, and the band that Blanchard formed a little over ten years ago called E-Collective.
