The Messthetics – "Mythomania" (Soundcheck Podcast)
The Messthetics are a punk-jazz trio consisting of experimental guitarist Anthony Pirog and the rhythm section of the D.C. post-hardcore/punk band Fugazi. Bassist Joe Lally, and drummer Brendan Canty offer a solid foundation for guitar excursions that evoke, and evade, the sounds of prog rock, jazz, and avant-garde music. This past summer, The Messthetics took part in the annual New York Guitar Festival at Bryant Park. Their set, recorded live, includes a guest appearance from guitarist Marc Ribot, and is the latest episode of Soundcheck Podcast.
