Tricky at Brooklyn Steel
Oct. 11. 8PM. $49.99
The city of Bristol, in the southwest of England, became a musical hub in the 90s as the home of the style known as trip hop. A mix of psychedelia, downtempo dance music, and atmospheric vocals, trip hop pioneers included the bands Massive Attack, Portishead, and the artist known as Tricky. And although he’d later move to Berlin and incorporate the sounds of rock, industrial, and rap, Tricky will always be associated with that 90s Bristol scene. His most recent album, his fifteenth, is called Different When It’s Silent, and he plays on Sunday, Oct. 11, at Brooklyn Steel.
