Columbia University presents The Forever War and the First Amendment, a symposium marking 25 years since the 9/11 attacks and looking at how the war on terror has impacted American life and culture. In addition to journalists and legal scholars, the event will also include a live solo performance by pianist and composer Vijay Iyer, the MacArthur Fellow and Harvard professor whose music moves easily between jazz, classical, and popular music styles and whose work is often written in response to the political and social events of our time. Iyer takes the stage at the Lee C. Bollinger Forum of Columbia University for a short performance on September 9.
